A New Partnership — 12 Years in the Making

Introducing Hospitality North!

I met Cassie back in 2008 when we were bright-eyed rookies in Humber’s PR program together! She was the first person I sat beside. I fondly remember one of our professors — and the best professor, as I’m sure many will agree — Kalene Morgan, saying that the people we meet in this classroom will be a vital network for us as we navigate the world of work, connecting us to new opportunities and recommending us for jobs. In the case of me and Cassie, truer words have never been spoken!

As I was leaving my first gig with global PR firm H+K Strategies to go to Venture Communications, I recommended Cassie to take over my role in their tech practice. They hired her on the spot (she’s that good!). As Cassie moved along her PR career path, I’ve watched her passion for hospitality flourish. She’s worked as PR Director at Metropolitan Hotels, leading media relations and social media for their hotel properties (SoHo Metropolitan Hotel + The Hazelton Hotel) and restaurants (Luckee by Susur Lee, Wahlburgers, Copetin Restaurant and Bar, ONE Restaurant - part of the McEwan Group). When she took two maternity leaves during her time there, she recommended NorthPR take over the PR activities. That’s when I met Donnie Wahlberg and Marky Mark. No big deal.

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that Cassie is leading Hospitality North under the NorthPR umbrella! We decided to do this in the happy, cheery month of February, before the pandemic turned all of our plans upside down. But it speaks volumes that Cassie perserved through this time, and against all odds, she’s managed to keep a growing roster of top-tier hospitality clients. Cassie and I have been working together since April, and to say that I’m impressed with her work ethic and results is an understatement. The first hit she secured with NorthPR was with eTalk, and the results haven’t stopped rolling in since, including the day she landed all four top-tier news stations to cover a feel-good story featuring one of her restaurants.

As the hospitality industry recovers, I believe Cassie is the person hotels and restaurants will want on their side. PR is an important ingredient in the recovery, and smart strategy — backed by result-driven campaigns — will be essential to stand out from the crowd and tell your story in an extremely competitive media environment. Here’s one example of a story about the current status of the hotel industry she secured with the Canadian Press and was picked up across the country in leading publications.
